CookieCon 2015 - Newsletter #1
(Originally sent on March 30, 2015)

Thank you for reserving your spot at CookieCon 2015!!
We are so excited that you decided to spend a fun weekend with us in September! You are coming from every corner of the world, and we are so excited to see you! In the meantime, there are plans to be made and arrangements to figure out. Here are a few reminders to get you started.

Your “Ticket”
The confirmation email from purchasing your ticket is your proof of purchase. No other physical ticket will be sent. Please print that page for your records, and bring it with you to Salt Lake for registration (the order number and your personal ID will be sufficient as well). If you did not receive a confirmation email, it’s possible that there is a typo in your email address. Please contact us with your correct email address so that we can get that updated and keep you in the loop with future information.

Your Name(s)
Please make sure that your preferred name is on your order (ie, if your full name is Katherine, but you go by Kate). We will be using that to print name tags, etc. If you need to change it, let us know. Also, we will be putting your city and state (or country for internationals) on your name tag. If what you want represented on your name tag is different from what is on your ticket order, please let us know. Email or call with that information as soon as possible so we don’t forget to update your info!

If You Ordered For Someone Else
If you ordered tickets for others with your order, please let us know their name(s), city and state (or country) for name tags, and their email address so that we can keep them updated. Optionally, you can also include their phone number, which would just be used if the attendees needed to be contacted quickly.

Hotel Reservations and Travel
You have until August 21, 2015, to make your hotel reservations, but the sooner you do it the more choice you’ll have with room type (Queen/Queen vs King). We found out recently that Salt Lake Comic Con is going on the same weekend as CookieCon. This could make hotel rooms disappear as we get closer. Please make your room reservations as soon as possible. It is much easier to cancel un unneeded room than to find rooms at the last minute. We have a great rate for the beautiful Hilton City Center Hotel ($112 per night before taxes), and rooms are already filling up quickly. The Hilton phone number is 1-801-328-2000. Be sure to tell them you are with the CookieCon group to get the group rate. You can also click on this link to make your reservations online:

https://resweb.passkey.com/Resweb.do?mode=welcome_ei_new&eventID=12283515

We recommend that you get your plane tickets booked earlier rather than later. You can often get deals if you plan ahead. And if you’re planning on going out and sharing a meal with a large group, we recommend getting your restaurant reservations in soon!

Sugar Show Category Change
If you’re already planning your Sugar Show entries, we wanted to let you know that we have made a change to one of the categories this year. Because Salt Lake Comic Con will be going on down the street, we have decided to change the “Cinema” category to “Comic Books and Superheroes”! You can see all the categories for the Sugar Show here: http://www.cookiecon.net/info.php#show

CookieCon Attendee Facebook Group
The best way to stay in touch with other attendees, ask questions, mingle, or to find roommates or carpools is to join our CookieCon Attendees facebook group. You can find the group by clicking on this link:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/404079749634080/

When you get to the group page, you will see a button near the top (under the group header) that says “Join Group”. When you click on that, your request will be sent to us for approval. We will check to make sure that you have a ticket, and then approve you. This is another important reason to let us know the names and order numbers of any attendees for whom you purchased a ticket. If we don’t know their names, we might not realize that they are an actual attendee. If you’re not added within a day or so, shoot us an email with your ticket number and Facebook name and remind us to add you.

If you already requested a while ago, please do so again. We’ve tried to approve all of the valid requests but we get a lot of spammers too, so we’ve cleared out the requests that we weren’t sure about.

There are also threads started at CookieConnection and Cookiers R Us for those searching for roommates. You can find those using these links:

Special Dietary Needs
We aren’t sure yet what the menu will be for our Awards Banquet, but we do know that the hotel is happy to cater to your dietary needs. If you are gluten free, peanut free, vegetarian, vegan, etc., please let us know and we will make sure you’re taken care of.

Thank you again for purchasing your CookieCon ticket! We are so excited about this event, and a huge part of that is YOU. We love the cookie community and can’t wait to be with you in September. We have lots more info coming about the sugar show, cookie swap, cutter exchange, Decorator Faceoff, sponsors, vendors, and other fun details! We will keep you updated as the event gets closer, but in the meantime please contact us with any questions you may have.
