Pre-CookieCon Classes
In addition to the included classes and demos you'll see at CookieCon, we are making some other awesome learning opportunities available before CookieCon officially kicks off. On Wednesday (March 8), and Thursday morning (March 9) there will be a number of specialty and hands-on classes taught by some amazing instructors right here in the same location as CookieCon! If you'd like to take advantage of this, simply register and pay for the classes you'd like, and get here early. This will be an amazing one-stop opportunity to work one-on-one with some great cookie-decorating talent.

These class registrations open up on Friday (October 28), and are for CookieCon ticket holders.


Please note: These Pre-Event Classes are not included with your ticket to CookieCon. You will need to register and make payment for these classes ahead of time with each individual instructor.

There will be 3 sessions open for Pre-Event Classes:
  • Wednesday Morning - March 8 (8am-noon)
  • Wednesday Afternoon - March 8 (2pm-6pm)
  • Thursday Morning - March 9 (8am-noon)

• Paper Paper Paper
Taught by Natalie puikkonen
I will be offering 2 hands-on Paper Paper Paper cookie decorating classes. Both classes will cover the same techniques using different types of edible paper to decorate cookies such as edible images, wafer paper flowers, and most likely sugar stamps. A little more time will be spent on edible images and how to print and different application techniques. Each student will go home with a goody bag and a set of cookies decorated by you! All materials will be provided in class.
• Going Rustic
• Adding Shabby to the Chic
Taught by Pam Sneed
Explore many techniques used to bring a rustic flare, or find a variety of ways to add a delicate and shabby chic look to cookies using corn syrup glaze icing. Several cookies in these collections will be provided for each student to decorate on their own, with the remaining cookies either demonstrated or discussed for individual decorating techniques. With such a wide array of variation, there will be lots and lots of tips and tricks shared within the four hours to allow each student to come away with many things to incorporate into their own decorating style.
Cookie Stencil Classes
Taught by Shannon Heupel
Have an airbrush and don't know how to use it? Wondering what the cookie stencil craze is all about. Shannon will show you how to learn a simple and easy way to decorate cookies that look amazing.
Hands-On Springerle Cookie Classes
Taught by Patrice Romzick
Make springerle cookies that are truly works of art using intricate mold replicas that go back hundreds of years. You'll get lots hands-on experience making and painting the cookies, and individualized attention with three instructors for our class of eight. Included in your tuition is over $100 worth of take-home equipment including your choice of a springerle mold with cutter, all the tools you'll need, cookies, and a Springerle Joy apron!

Taught by Tunde Dugantsi
Discover traditional cookie decorating from the old world, when people had only a bag of icing to create wonders - and they did! Lace design, needlepoint and winter landscape can be combined with other techniques to create a more intricate cookie. Bring your piping to the next level!

Girls Night Out (hands-on class)
Ooh La la... Time to have fun exploring popular decorating techniques as students work through a Girls Night Out cookie set. This class will also cover setting up a cookie timeline, predicting icing quantities, and designing cookies sets that not only look great, but also save time and KEEP THE JOY in decorating!!

How to Teach Cookie Decorating (lecture class)
Teaching cookie decorating classes is a great way to add a new source of income to your cookie business. Learn from Anne Yorks of Flour Box Bakery how to plan, market, and execute a successful cookie class.

I am so excited to teach my Pre-Cookie Con classes because it is like a party before the party! How cool is that?! All supplies for the class will be provided and all you have to bring is your awesome self. If you have a favorite paintbrush or apron, feel free to bring it along. I like to cover a lot of techniques in my classes, so be prepared to paint, pipe, dimensional flood, do a little airbrushing, learn some sneaky tricks I use, make royal icing transfers, did I mention paint?

Airbrushing

An airbrush is a cookie decorators best friend! Our hands-on classes are all about loving and using your airbrush. It's such a fun and versatile decorating tool and we want you to love it as much as we do!

The airbrush adds such a unique look and beautiful finish to your cookies. It creates depth and dimension that isn't achievable with any other decorating technique. We'll walk you through our design process from beginning to end and teach you how to incorporate the airbrush in your designs. These classes are perfect for beginners as well as decorators looking to take their airbrushing skills to the next level.

These are not official CookieCon classes and as such CookieCon will not be handling collection of class fees, registration, scheduling, or refunds.
